GRADY* - Sitting at Animal Control day after day began to get to me, but rescue stepped in and bailed me out. I was oh so happy to be out of Animal Control, but not too ecstatic about being in rescue. Apparently, the white coloring on my muzzle gave potential adopters the impression that I am older than my five years of age...I am still quite young and active. About me: a five year old Rat Terrier, fair house manners, kennel trained, do fairly well with other dogs (but my terrier nature sets me up to be bossy sometimes), happy, loving, a lap buddy but not real intrusive, handsome, love to ride, great on walks or hikes (my favorite activity), fairly obedient and playful. A family with older children or an adult home would be the right placement for me. If you need an enthusiastic companion that will go for walks, rides or just hang out together, then I know I am the buddy you have been looking for. Giving me a chance in your heart and home would be wonderfully beneficial for both you and me...I can't lie, I appreciate my foster home and it is okay, but not really for me. Living in transition sort of sucks! I truly desire a home and people of my own...security and knowledge that I will be loved and cared for throughout my lifetime...Wow what a life that would be!

MEDFRED* - Lost and scared, I was taken to Animal Control as a stray. Surprisingly, no-one claimed me. I am approximately eight years old, a Toy Fox Terrier, loves to sit on laps (but hates kisses and not real cuddly), sleeps on the bed, has fairly good house-manners, kennel trained, does okay with cats, a bit bossy sometimes with other dogs but most generally gets along, a bit barky at times and shines as a companion (I excel at that job). I have a deformed front leg (which I use, but limp); it was determined to be an old injury that was not cared for appropriately years ago. It does not seem to bother me; it is just a bit shorter than the other with a bow in the bone structure. I really need an adult home only. I require security and safety...for that I promise to give a lifetime of companionship and warm laps. I realize I am considered a senior dog and that is most generally the reason I have not been adopted. Us senior dogs need good, loving homes too! In my opinion, I still have lots of time to share with a new family...and be assured it will be a wonderful experience for all!

SCHYLER* - I was recently owner released at a vet clinic because my initial rescuer needed to concentrate on caring for his senior dog. I am a puppy of Iditarod parents; an active and happy eight month old Border Collie/Husky Mix. My foster home has an adorable cat...I have proven to be cat friendly. I get along great with other dogs, am playful, kennel trained, love to ride, know some basic commands (sit is good), love walks and hikes and love to tell you about my day (a bit verbal). Cute and cuddly too!!! Life is wonderful and exciting...I would love to share my life joys with you. We could have lots of adventures together, be the best of friends for years and have lots of fun! It would be delightful to get to know each other and get our lives started together...Wow what a great idea!!!

BLISS

BLISS* - Miss Bliss was rescued from Animal Control on May 16th covered in scabs and puss...oh what a pitiful mess this little gal was!! She was owner released to Animal Control in this horrible condition. Initially the vet misdiagnosed her and things for this baby got worse…oh so nasty…we thought it could not happen, but it did...huge blisters and open sores...painful. She was so sweet and absolutely miserable, so her foster mom insisted Bliss went to the specialist (ouch…costly). She had an extreme case of Demodex mites…curable with lots of care, special baths, medication and several more visits to the specialist…months of treatment. She is our million dollar Shih Tzu/Lhasa mix…and in our opinion, worth the expense and time to get her healthy! Her foster mom, Paula, did an awesome job of helping this little gal recover...no more scabs, sores, blisters or any other type of Demodex issues. Instead she is soft, cuddly and has hair again. Bliss has finally been released from medical status and is now available for adoption…she can finally find her own life-time home…yeah! She is a very happy and active, four and a half year old baby who loves to snuggle, play, ride and she gets along great with other dogs and cats. She is the best little companion…worth every dollar spent to get her healthy and save her life!!! Now her final goal is to have a wonderful, loving, caring home of her own...a home with another doggy or kitty buddy would be good and an adult home or home with older children. A fenced yard to run and play would be a great bonus too! This little lady will bring so much joy with her...she is amazing!!!

PIERRE

PIERRE* - Due to medical issues, my owner took me to Animal Control. Because my teeth were infected, rescue was called. I am a handsome and fairly quiet black and gray, six year old Poodle. I have been groomed, so I look tons better (I was a very matted mess). I am devoted to lap time (but a little shy initially), get along great with other dogs and even cats, have great house manners, love to sleep on the bed, desire to be a constant companion but understand that humans have to be gone sometimes too, kennel trained, like to ride and dream of a home of my own. I am tolerating the activity of the foster dogs in my foster home, but would really prefer to have a quieter, loving home of my own. I am a very devoted little guy. I prefer an adult home or home with older children only. I am desperately waiting for that right home...one where we can share a very mutual loving relationship for a life-time. (I did not enjoy my Animal Control or transition experience very well at all.) If you are seeking a great companion, I am your man!!!

APPLETTE* - Cute, cuddly and happy natured definitely describes me. They are guessing I am a Brussel Griffon maybe Boston Terrier or Llasha mix. I am about one and a half to two years old, kennel trained, have good house manners, not real barky (but do like to bark a bit while playing), get along great with other dogs and don't seem to have much interest in cats. I would do really well in an adult home or home with older children. A fenced yard to safely play in would be great too! I love attention and lap time. I am an awesome little gal who deserves to have a great home...no more experiences finding myself at Animal Control please. Life with me would be wonderful and fun.

RYDER

RYDER* - I became a well-known face at Animal Control because my owners let me run free. After about six visits with the Animal Control staff, my owners decided it was too expensive to bail me out again...oh if they had only been responsible and restrained me, but they didn't. I am a great, six year old, wired hair Jack Russell Terrier. I am kennel trained, love to ride, fairly busy (but don't bouce off the walls), healthy, get along great with other dogs (but do tend to try to boss bigger dogs), I adore the squirt bottle (it does not work for punishment...it is great fun), not real barky, have good house manners, torment the cats a bit, happy natured and totally enjoys lap time with tummy rubs. An active adult home or home with older children would be the best for me. Smaller play-buddy dogs would be my preferance. A fenced yard to run and play safely would also be a requirement. I am a typical Jack Russell...I get focused on something and stay focused...sometimes it takes several efforts to change the direction of my attention...not an awful behavior but typical for my breed. I would love to take you for walks or hikes, entertain you and snuffle in your ear every morning to get you started. We can have many terrific adventures together...I'm waiting for you!

FIEVEL aka Fidel

FIEVEL* (aka Fidel) Strayed from home and freezing, I eventually found myself at Animal Control…oh so scared…no one came to get me. I immediately caught kennel cough (got it bad) and rescue was called. I am approximately six years old, a great little Toy Fox Terrier who is very sweet natured, loving and lap oriented. People food is my passion (altho' I am not allowed), kennel trained, like to ride, fairly good house-manners, cuddly, not real barky, enjoy sleeping on the bed and under the covers, people friendly, good with other dogs and even cats, quite handsome, can be a bit "terrier' in nature (bossy and lap assertive) but not too bad and fairly small (nine pounds). An adult home or home with older children would be ideal for me. So much has happened in my life recently…not all of it has been good. It would be fantastic to finally have a home where I can feel safe, loved and settled. Is that your home?

MARVIN* - Initially I was rescued from Animal Control. I went to live with a wonderful mom, Judy (my foster mom's best friend for 34 years). My mom was diagnosed with cancer…sadly her life is ending. I was very protective so the hospice care-takers had difficulty…I had to come back to rescue. I am a handsome five and a half year old Schipperke/Spitz mix who is definitely protective in nature. I am loving and adore lap time, very devoted, good house-manners, kennel trained, love to ride, entertaining with my attitude and prances, not intrusive, not real barky and quite good-looking (if I say so myself). I do tend to be nippy and barky when I am in the protective mode. I would do best in an adult home. I love to be outside and burrow into the snow, take walks or hikes. I can be a couch potato or an active little guy…whatever you feel like doing, I will be glad to join you. I know that my momma misses me (and I truly miss her) but we would both be happier knowing I have a life-time home.

ROLLIE

ROLLIE* - Running free and having fun with no-one caring about me...that lasted until I found myself at Animal Control. I waited patiently for my owners to come to get me, but no one came. When my stray-days expired, I was deemed unacceptable for the general public to adopt...I did not pass the food test although I am much better now. Rescue was called. I am a male, one-year old, Swedish Vallhund mix. I am very playful, active and fun loving. It is obvious that my previous owners did not spend any time to train me. I am getting better at riding in the car, walking on a leash, kenneling, improving my house-manners, nipping less when I play, trying to sit, taking treats more gently, less over enthusiastic about everything, etc. I am smart and learn quickly altho' I get very excited and sidetracked so I tend to delay remembering what I learned. I am cuddly...loves lots of attention...very happy natured, comical, get along well with other dogs, not extremely barky and always excited to greet you. I realize I might be a bit of a challenge for some...if you are seeking a perfect dog, I am not that dog...but I can be with patience, training and lots of love. I require lots of exercise (a tired dog is a better dog) otherwise I get bored and tend to entertain myself by challenging authority. I would be much more successful if you would devote time to taking me to a puppy training class. I am desperately waiting for my lifetime home...one without small children, definitely with another playful dog and a fenced yard so I will be safe. You can bet I will become an awesome dog in the hands of the right person(s)...Is that you?

ZOA* - Cute, adorable and very active would describe me perfectly. I am a nine month old Pit Bull/Husky mix. I do well with smaller dogs in foster (but a bit fearful and nippy with larger dogs), am playful, happy natured, kennel trained, fair to good house manners, would benefit from continual socialization and doggy training classes, ride well, not real barky, love attention and cuddly. I am a puppy, so still do some of those puppy things (like try to sit on your lap and lick), but learn quickly and respond to a squirt bottle. I would blossom in an active home that has puppy patience and time to train me. I would excel in an adult home or home with older children...I am a bit bouncy for little ones. Walks and hikes would be wonderful...a tired puppy is a better behaved puppy. Another dog to play with would be a huge bonus. So many things have happened to me in my short life, so I really want a life-time home with lots of love and permanency. I'm looking forward to having the best time of my life with you.

ROXSI* - I am tiny but mighty. At Animal Control I was ferocious...I kept everyone at bay. Rescue was called and informed "good luck" getting me out of the kennel. I fought hard...I was so scared and was sure I was going to be hurt...that was not going to happen. With patience and expertise, I was leashed and off into rescue I went...kicking and fighting all the way. The belief that I would calm down after I left Animal Control was short lived...I remained a challenge for quite sometime. Hope remained high because I immediately became a devoted "daddy's girl"...a good sign that I would eventually come around. Altho' my foster mom has not given up developing a relationship with me, I am still a bit of a challenge...but am coming around slowly...she sports a few war wounds. Being a small two year old Chihuahua with such drastic changes in my life is far too overwhelming. Apparently no one was going to defend me...so I took on that job myself...can you blame me? With my foster dad, I am bouncy, love lap time, devoted and follow him around jumping to be picked up, snuggle into his arms or sleep right next to him, wag my tail lovingly and cuddly...he can do anything with me and I love it!! I do defend his lap. I love to play with other small dogs, am kennel trained, shy and a bit defensive, ride well, have fairly good house manners and am darn cute! As you can guess, I will need an adult home only...one that will give me time to adjust, not push me, have patience to wait for me to come around and understand that I may choose one person to love and dislike (potentially bite) anyone else. I am not the dog for everyone and will be a bit of a challenge. If you have the ability to work with me, give me the assurance and guidance I will required to blossom into the sweet little gal I can be and an ability to be very patient...we may be a great match. I do have some wonderful qualities and am a very devoted little girl to the right person. Fear rules my behavior...but that can change...I remain hopeful!!

BRUCE* - So many changes in my life recently have left me rather confused. I was taken to Animal Control with my beloved sister, Dory. We were kept separated and I missed her desperately. After rescue stepped in, we were allowed to be together...we were so excited to see each other...dancing, kissing each other and nuzzling happily. Once we arrived at the vet clinic, everyone became aware of how ill Dory was...they worked hard to save her but she passed away that same day. I was with her...and was devastated. Now I am in foster care and doing okay...adjusting to all the changes. I am a six year old, Miniature Pinscher who has fairly good house manners, not real barky, kennel trained, loves to cuddle and snuggle, am handsome with several cute little cowlicks, enjoy sleeping under the blankets and people friendly. I get along well with other not real bouncey dogs and do okay with cats. Finding my own home soon would be something wonderful in my recent disasters of life. I will do terrific in an adult home or home with older children (no small children). A gentle natured doggy companion would be awesome too. Please consider me as your life-time companion and give me a new positive leash on life.

CRYSTAL ELLIE* -I was owner released at Animal Control because they were "moving"...seems a bit strange to me really. Because I had a cherry eye and a huge hernia, it was either rescue assist me or euthanasia...thank goodness rescue opted to step in and provide the medical treatment I required. I am a very happy and active nine year old Doxie. I love life, laps and being busy. I have good house manners, enjoy talking, am comical, love lap time and sleeping under the covers, ride well, keeping things active and interesting, great at tail wagging and very loveable in nature. Granted I am considered a "senior", but I have lots to give, several years to share with you and have no intention to live life as a senior...life is too exciting. I do well with other dogs, but prefer small dogs. I do wonderfully well in an adult home or home with older children. Your life will be so enriched and fulfilled by just allowing me to share my love and entertain you. I have been medically released...so I am very ready to find my own life-time home and get on with the adventures life has to offer. Team up with me and we will definitely have a blast...we can be the most awesome of companions. Don't let me down...give me a chance...you definitely won't be the least bit sorry!!!

ASTRO* - After I arrived at Animal Control, rescue was called because I was deemed "not child friendly". I am a two year old, spunky, chubby, male Chihuahua who can be a bit full of himself and a touch overprotective of the one I love. My foster mom has curtailed my “bossy” attitude with a squirt bottle...ugh...and I do respond. I am actually a friendly and loveable little guy; enjoy a good snuggle and lap, likes to ride, kennel trained, not too barky but not quiet either, other dog friendly most of the time, am active and playful but I do calm down to cuddle, happy little attitude most of the time and quite handsome. I would adore an adult home. I would probably do okay with older children who are little dog wise and friendly...but absolutely no small children. An owner who will not allow me to take control and be leader of the pack would be the right home for me...it is not a job I should have...and I would rather just be your companion and buddy. I am doing very well in foster...and am happier just having fun. I am a fun-loving, comical and happy little guy who can brighten your day every day...warm your heart with lots of love...and make you very aware that you are truly the bestest. Please make my dreams come true...a loving home with a life-time commitment...I will give you lots of excitement and love in return.

RYSSA* - Finding myself at Animal Control because my family was "moving" was quite a scarey situation for me. Overwhelmed and skitty, I did not present well for public placement...rescue was called. Once in rescue, it took me awhile to adjust...I was very nervous. I would stay at arms length, wanted to be held but could not quite let myself, hid and just stayed shy and fearful. As I adjusted to my new situation, I discovered there were lots of playmates (fun), great laps (snuggly), treats (yummy) and a great bed (and blankets to burrow in)...things were not so bad afterall. I am a very sweet, two year old Chihuahua who is cuddly, love to lick, not real barky, wag my tail happily, play, like to ride, kennel trained and have fairly good house manners. I will require an adult home or home with older children...one that will be patient with me while I adjust again to my new home. I promise to love you and be terribly devoted you, if you promise to love me for a life-time. I don't think I can go through all of this again...it was really difficult for me. I am fun, adorable and have cutest up-turned nose (a "Who" nose...like the Who's in the movie the "Grench Who Stole Christmas")...I am one of a kind and quite a treasure.

DAYSHA* - I am a playful, happy and lively three year old, female Miniature Pinscher who found herself at Animal Control because my family was "moving"...I love to ride so I do not know why I could not go with them. Because I stressed at Animal Control, (who wouldn't...it is scarey), rescue had to be called to assist me. Wow...rescue has been fun...I have lots of buddies to play with, people who share their laps and lots of love. Not too bad really...but I would still like my own home where I will be cherished and not "tossed away" again. I would do wonderfully well in an adult home or a home with older children...a play buddy would be sooo awesome too!! I am kennel trained (not overly estatic about it, but kennel trained), love to cuddle and cuddle and cuddle, active, sport a very positive attitude, pretty people friendly for a Min-Pin, comical, tolerant of other dogs who want to be bossy and just enjoy life to its fullest. We could have lots of fun, share so much love and face everyday as a new adventure together if you give me a chance to share your life. I am positive I can sweep away your heart, make you smile and brighten your day...in return, all I ask is that you love me and give me a life-time commitment...wow...we are a match made in heaven!
